Holiday hangover; book drunk.

(Hopefully) We meet again, book worms.
If you're anything like me, the holidays are both an insane time where imagination gets to explode
out of you in the form of red-and-green decorations and an opportunity to buy ridiculous amounts of books-on-sale. What can possibly be bad about this scenario? Nothing? As Fat Amy says, 'Uhmm...ahhhh...uhmmm." Sheepish looks everywhere.
Normally, you're absolutely right. Except this year, I've imbibed with Patrick Ness'

The Knife of Never Letting Go. OW TODD. By the 10th chapter, I'll admit that I owned the Audible, Kindle, and hard copy versions of this book. By chapter 29, I was ready to burn them all to ash, and by the end, I'm slowly recovering and mentally preparing for book 2. Masochist, party of one. TODD.
But that's the best medicine when a book rips out your heart, or family is getting a little suffocating, and you can't avoid how your pants are just a little too tight from that extra piece of pie. Start the next book. Whether it's by writing a story or reading another, books will see you through this post-holiday slump. In need of a suggestion? Allow me to make a few.
My (current) Favorite 5 in no particular order.
1) Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness (because I have hope.)
2) Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
3) The Wrath and the Dawn duology by Renee Ahdieh
4) The Thing About Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin
5) Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard
Noticing a trend in my book choices? Yeah, I'm a YA and Fantasy addict. I'm okay with it. Like I said, the best cure for a book or holiday hangover is a little hair-of-the-literary-dog.
As always, carpe librum.
