My Pregnancy Bible

We've been a bit silent for a while, but I promise there is a good reason for it! I have a book to share with you about why.

When I first found out I was pregnant, I immediately jumped on amazon and purchased 'What to Expect When You're Expecting' by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel. It was possibly a cliche move, but I didn't care. I needed to know what was happening to me and what was going to happen to me. Just holding the book in my hands soothed me. I read every word within a week. (Well, most of it. I skipped labor at first, I wasn't ready to read that. I went back though, it's a wonderful section!)

What I really loved about this book though was how you could read it once through but also read it month by month. Personally, I devoured it, and then went back as I entered each new month of my pregnancy. I got an overall impression of pregnancy and then I got to update myself on what my next month looked like and what to expect. It also probably helped my doctor so I wasn't asking 'my back hurts, is this normal?! Why am I waking up so much in the middle of the night? Does this morning sickness ever go away?' I just opened my book and it told me that all of that was perfectly normal and not to worry! It also keeps you updated on what's happening with baby, so while I was concerned about cramping I loved reading that his little heart was beating!

Now for the reason I've been silent, I had my baby! This book was also magical for the first few weeks postpartum. It has an entire section on what to expect your first week and first six weeks. I forced my husband to read it as I sat on the bed bawling because of how much I loved my perfect son so he could help me through those first few weeks. It was so soothing. If you are pregnant, hoping to be pregnant, or just curious about pregnancy go get this book. You won't regret it.

Also, fun tip, there's also a movie with the same title. Watch it. It's wonderful.
